Day to Night Footage Conversion - Methods (Jon)

We decided that it would be too difficult in terms of timing and practicality, to film at night or dusk. We found an alternative, and that is to film in the day, and convert the footage (using colour correction methods) to night footage.

To see if this was possible, we filmed a short scene outside the entrance to college, and imported this into Final Cut Pro. After experimenting with various settings, I found a plug-in that would do this for us automatically. It also allowed us to configure exactly to our requirements, even down to the colour of the moonlight.

  1. This is good - keep up these kinds of explanations as they show that you are going through stages of decision making and using available technology. Don't forget this for the evaluations.

  3. One of you needs to comment on the problem meeting the deadline on Friday, and update latest progress.

  4. Jon - I have just looked back over the blog for this month and Feb, and there are far fewer posts from you than others in the group. I know that you are working in lessons, but I need to remind you I think that unless the evidence of what you are doing is on the blog, it cannot be awarded marks! So far, evidence of your own research and planning tasks is very thin, and may struggle to achieve more than a grade D. It's not too late to amend this at the moment, but soon I will stop checking that you have filled in gaps and record a mark for you.
