Ays- 'Blinded'

Main Character

  • Obviously had a normal life as he was driving a car and acts suprised when he is suddenly blinded.

  • Trustworthy as he lets a complete stranger get into his car and drive him home.

  • Vulnerable, can't see and is trusting strangers who could take advantage of him.

  • Lonely as he shouts for help in the middle of the street yet people ignore him and move on.

Opening Credits

  • Out of focus dots at the beginning with 'focus features' written, seems slightly ironis considering the film is about a blind man and is called 'Blinded'.

  • The next credits before the opening starts flash as if you can't see them properly.

  • In the middle of the opening the main character describes what he is experiensing and describes it as 'swimming in milk' and that it's white with black particles.

  • At that point the screen is white with faint bits of black floating around as if you are looking from the characters point of view.

  • Also the word 'Blinded' comes up at this point but is faint and blended in with the background so that you can hardly see it.

Setting

  • Close up of cars and then red and green traffic lights showing that it is in the street and is busy.

  • A birdseye view of the roads show how busy it is.

  • It then cuts to another birdseye view but of a specific part of the city which shows where the main character could be.

  • You get a medium close up of the main character standing in the middle of the road going to a close up of his hands outstretched, showing his confusion and desperation to find something to hold on to.

  • It then goes to a birdseye view of him showing him stranded in the middle of the road and it goes in and out of focus as if showing the viewer what the character is seeing.
Sound

  • Loud car noises and beeping showing it's busy and conjested.
  • People shouting and beeping when the man doesn't start to drive.
  • When the man is in the car the noise from outside gets a lot quieter.

Other

  • The reflection off the windscreen goes white with black ripples to normal again making it feel like we are the blind man and shows us what he might be experiencing.
  • The man who helps him seems dodgey as he doesn't know this man and offers to drive him home.
  • He tells the blind man to get out the car and walk to the curb then he drives off quickly as if he is stealing the car, which the blind man seems to think by the way he reacts.
  • When the blind man is in the car and has realised what's happened he says 'I'm blind' in a different language expressing maybe a different culture.
