Tom- Die Hard 4.0

camerawork
  • the first shot it a tracking shot, moving behind computers which is good because it sets the scene that we are inside, it then moves to someone on a computer, their eyes look concentrated.
  • their is a zoom onto the computer screen he is looking at that says unlocking password which shows that he is hacking into something
  • a close up of his face, which then quickly moves to a close up of his fingers typing which shows that he is working hard and fast
  • their is then tiny shots of links moving across then screen
  • a tracking mid close up shot of a woman, its behind a shelf which could show that someone is watching her, and that the stuff on the shelf is very technical
  • a side on view of the male characters face, because he looks behind him to see is anyones watching him
  • a close up of the womans face
  • an extreme close up of the computer transferring something, this is shown because its important in the scene, and makes the audience want to know what is being transferred, also this links in that he just sent her something
  • a close up of a table on the computer, a sign changes from assigned to delivered to show thats its been sent
  • an eye level medium long shot of the guy at the computer, again from the side because it shows how big the room that he is in is
  • then cuts to a mid close up of the woman again, this shows that they are communicating with each other
  • a mid close up shot of a different guy, his face is covered by a shelf which shows, at first, that it isnt clear who he is
  • a close up shot of his hands typing which links him in with the first guy
  • this next shot is only for a split second but it shows a digital image of a robotic face on the computer, which then gets wiped by alot of numbers and codes, this makes the audience interested in what he is doing
  • a mid close up of the man who was covered before, typing on the computer which shows that he is concentrating on something
  • a big close up of the screen loading something, then it saying access granted which shows that he just got into an important page on the computer
  • the same shot again but then it cuts to the womans face
  • then her computer saying delivered, which shows that they are commmunicating and he just sent her something
  • a side on close up of the womans face, they used this because to the side of her is another character on the computer, which could show that they are working together
  • another side on mid close up of the second male taking a drink which could show that he is slightly tired
  • the next couple of shots are of the second male and the woman talking over the computer
  • it then cuts to a high angle shot of a house, this shot sets where the new scene is
  • then there is shooting on a video game, gears of war, which is an anti climax because at first you think its proper violence but then you see its a game
  • their is then a two shot from a low angle of someone coming out of a kitchen into the living room
  • then cuts to one of the two characters sitting at his computer
  • the next couple of shots are of his computer not working, then his reaction to it not working, confused, these shots happen quickly because their is a build up to an explotion
  • the explotion is shot from many different angles enfisizing how big the explotion is

sound

  • at the start their is very low music, with random sounds of computer technology, this sets what type of film it is because the low sounds mean suspence
  • the next sounds are also from the computer, of loading and shots moving. then there is a boom for the first title of actors names
  • the music is continuous, then the first line is "well?" this starts of the dialog with a question
  • then the next line "im sending you the code" shows that they are getting codes for something, also the loading sounds help to show that
  • their is then a musical climax, then another title which creates an anticlimax
  • more typing from the second male, continuous low music
  • more loading noises and typing
  • then dialog of the second male sending the female something, its not very spesific which makes the audience want to know more
  • he asks her" are you sure this is legal" which hugly hints that what they are doing isnt legal because his voice sounds unsure
  • then it cuts to her saying "we are ready" which again isnt spesific
  • the music climaxs at the shot outside the house, then changes to shooting sounds on gears of war inside, anti climax
  • one of the two characters inside the house says "guess who just made fifty Gs today?" and the other character is unfazed by it which shows that its small money for them
  • the two characters talk quickly about his computer being frozen, all this time the music is building up, then when he hits the delete button the music stops which shows that its at the peak of the climax
  • then the massive sound of the explotion.

mise en scene

  • the computers are vital to this whole film because they are what fuel the action, they send a virus which hits the person's computer, then when they hit delete they blow up. it is set in very dark rooms, because its easier to concentrate, also there is very little lighting in the sequences apart from the computer screens, its also set at night time which adds to the action because even outside its dark.
